We first saw you and Madison at Spring Training a few years ago and knew right away you were both special. What you accomplished last year with our beloved Giants was amazing and we know you’ll have many more successes. We wish you a speedy recovery and know your teammates will work hard in your absence. Buster, you don’t know it, but you have helped my family through inclement weather, illness, and even the loss of a loved one. “Giants Torture” has helped give us an outlet for our emotions and frustrations and has brought us joy during some tough years. We live five hours North of SF so we can’t come to the yard very often, but you guys are in our living room daily. We only miss games for weddings, funerals, and the occasional important meeting. My husband & I don our Giants gear, (including my Posey shirt & the dogs Giants bandanas), and cheer you guys just like we were at the yard. You probably get tired of all the fan attention you get, but like it or not, we love you Buster! The combination of your brain, temperament, and physical ability make you my favorite player. So when you feel down during your recovery, know that you have hundreds of thousands of fans missing you, thinking about you, and praying for you and your family. We know that you are tough and tend to push yourself, so please follow doctors orders and heal well. We want you back ASAP but we also want you completely healthy so we can watch you for years to come.

On this Memorial Day weekend when you’re at the Giant’s game, or watching from home, eating your hot dogs, smiling and laughing, that at another place somewhere, there’s an empty chair where a hero should be sitting. Someone who gave up their lives so that you can enjoy America’s favorite sport with your friends and family. Take a moment to think about the heroes that that did not make it home and for those who are still serving around the world.
