This year my son mathew turned three during baseballs opening week, he loves baseball and hits most of the pitches i throw to him. My first jersey as a young giants fan was#44 willie mccovey. When my wife karrie and i saw the number 28 jersey earlier this year we had to buy it for Matthew. Our battle cry this year was and still is “Come on Buster Posey !!
Matthew was asleep in those fateful extra innings- but the next day like the rest of us he just kept saying “buster posey got hurt-Why? When i told him yes he insisted on putting on his posey jersey, giants shorts, black and orange shin gaurds and headed outside (a little sick) he kept his head in the game and swung at every pitch and ran his bases always sliding into home.
Finding heroes for your son in this world can be tricky, telling him that the other guy was trying to win the game at the same time knowing the guy had a chance of winning if he would have slid into home not bulldozed a great player.
Anyway we are wishing you a very speedy recovery-go giants!!! hope to see you suited up soon. Thanks for being the player and hero that you are- The Townzens, Bethel Island, California- ps. The fishing is great out here , now that you have some time !!

Hope you are doing well and you have a great recovery. You had a great team working on you. FYI, I had ACL replacement some time ago and was operated on by Dr. Michael Wall, part of the SF 49er’s surgery team under Dr. Dillingham. I ran a marathon 1.5 years later and have had no knee trouble since (that was in 1999!). I did play NCAA Softball at one time, and although you are in a totally different “league” of play, getting back to my “old athletic self” was important. Your recovery will go well; you are young, strong and motivated!! Just know that the rest of your body may feel disconnected from your wounded part for a while. Those are nerves healing. Likely you will be pushed hard (but not too hard) to come back healthy. Stay focussed and don’t get down; often it’s the mental part of an injury that is the hardest to deal with. Anyhow, good luck!! We’ll see you back out on the field next year!! -Laurel

My daughter is a catcher on a travel softball team and I can’t imaging her taking a hit like that fun a runner. I hope they change the rule. Get well and work hard. I saw you play in Stockton one time before you were called up. You were so great with the fans and it was awesome to see such talent in such a close setting. We cheered so hard for you last year and when you came to DC (where we now live) this year. I hope that you heal fast but take all the time you need, Giants fans will be waiting for you!

I saw you play in Stockton one time before you were called up. You were so great with the fans and it was awesome to see such talent in such a close setting. We cheered so hard for you last year and when you came to DC (where we now live) this year. I hope that you heal fast but take all the time you need, Giants fans will be waiting for you!

But that’s okay I don’t mind it because I’m always hoping you feel better. Heal but don’t rush yourself!!!!! Me & my sister are making you a get well poster that we’ll show off during the games. Also I have mad respect for you, & all the SF Giants you guys are my heros. Baseball has always been my favorite sport but you really made me love it.
