I thought of you last night when one of our minor league Little Leaguers at the District 39 Tournament of Champions in Aptos (CA) blew up the catcher and was ejected from the game. It reminded me how vulnerable you guys can be back there behind the dish and how important it is to preach sliding at home instead of colliding with the catcher. I hope your rehab is going well. I’m rehab’ing from a torn “lis franc” ligament in my foot, so I feel your pain and know what a drag crutching around everywhere can be. Get well soon! –J.J.

I try and take your respectful mentality out on the field when I play and try to stay humble when I do well and put it past me and learn when I don’t. you’re great! i hope they’re giving you lots of painkillers. i herniated a few discs in my spine last year, but the SF giants winning big helped motivate me to recover, and now i’m in the best shape of my life. i hope your recovery goes well too.

Years back I broke 4 vertebrae in my spine, in a chest brace for 6 months, very restricted movements for a year. During all that time I took it one day at a time, exercised what did not hurt, and listened to my doctors. My arms stuck out to the side like a little kid dressed by grandma for a winter day outside. I pushed things mildly, not blindly. You don’t want a set back because you rush things; I know you are hungry to play and very competitive but consider the long term and being available long term as a quality player.
What would Ted Williams have done, what would his numbers have been if not for war? Hall of Fame as it was. What would Buster Posey have done except for an injury that he came back too soon from? Be a great patient so you can again be a great player.
Buster, PLEASE tell my daughter, Avery, you’re feeling better and everything will be OK…She’s so worried she’ll never get a chance to see you play again and refuses to go to the Giants games because you’re not there. Believe when I say this, its much harder on you than it is on her or any of the other million fans you’ve got. But she’s my baby girl and Daddy don’t need this level of drama if you know what I mean…;>)
I watch the giants game everyday… it’s just a thing that I do but watching it without you playing is different. Every time something goes wrong I think of you and how you would have made it better or prevented it. from happening. don’t get me wrong, the team is doing great but You are the back bone of that team and they need you back!

I’m the starting catcher for the Varsity squad at my highschool and enjoyed learning and observing from your movements behind the dish. Because of the difference in our levels of play, I cannot understand what it means to be out for a season of MLB. However, as you already know you have been made weak physically, but you must stay as powerful mentally as ever! Congrats on your success, get well, stay strong.

Busterrrrrrr. I sure do miss you! I don’t know why I haven’t told you this before but your the background on my phone, and you have been for like, a year 🙂 it’s great, cuz I use my phone a lot, and everytime I look at it, I see you!:) Im soooo excited, I get to be starting catcher next softball season! 🙂 in computer class we had to use photoshop to make a poster and first I did one of three of the giants who were in the hall of fame, Willie mccovey, Juan marichal, and Willie mays. I only did that because he said I couldnt do one of you because apparently I talk about you too much?:) but then for extra credit I made one of a bunch of pictures of you and my teacher thought it was so good that he put it in his samples folder with all the ones that he made! And he emailed it to me so that I can print it out and make it bigger and hang it on my wall:) i wish I could show it to you. Its so cool! Maybe one day.
